another world

Well I finally started playing Another World today. I've always wanted to play an Eric Chahi game. I've heard a lot about them, but it was probably the first time I saw footage of another one of his games, Heart of Darkness, that I KNEW I had to play one.

Plus, look how fucking cool this game looks. Just for the record, I always knew particle accelerators were bad business! The world has enough problems before you throw creepy water monsters roaming around Switzerland into the mix.

Maybe I'll have a follow up post after I finish.

You can download the anniversary edition of the game (legally) here.

no god or king

Refreshing to finally have someone put into words how I felt about Bioshock. It's a great game that just couldn't live up to the absolutely stellar first hour. Michael Abbot strikes again! Read here.

long live the author

One of my favorite video game bloggers (Michael Abbott) writing about a high profile, critically acclaimed video game (Uncharted 2), one of my favorite video game designers (Clint Hocking), and one of my favorite video game topics (the nature of game narrative). This is a must read . . . if you're me.

shooty mans and spooky aliens

(Click on the picture. So pretty!)

Natural Selection turns 7 years old! The first game was my favorite Half Life mod (outside of the great and mighty Team Fortress Classic) and was certainly one of the most inventive and successful mods in that community at the time. Well, the team is currently hard at work on the sequel, and I mean really fucking hard at work. These guys aren't exactly rolling in dough and can use any support they can get. So basically what I'm saying is that you should skip that pizza you were gonna order for dinner and pre-order what should be a very cool game made by very cool people

Nintendo recently released information on it's new, new, new iteration of their DS console.
If I had a million dollars...

Oh man do I want to shoot this wine into my glowing orange weak spots until I stagger drunkenly into game-over.

all i need is love (and friends to play with me . . . )

Love is a game being developed by only one man, Eskil Steenberg. The team size, however, does not seem to denote the game's massive scale, its massive ambition, or just how damn good it looks. Love is a persistent and constantly evolving online game where you and the other 199 people on the server battle the computer AI. In between the jaw-dropping visuals and the crazy amounts of possibilities inherent in the terrain deformation mechanic, you can color me interested. The game has recently entered an open alpha. and anyone can join for the entry price of 3 euros. Download the alpha client here so I have someone to play with!

Check out this segment that the Area-5 guys did on the game if you need a little convincing or some more information:
